By registering for this event, I certify that I have read this waiver and release, fully understand its terms, and agree to it voluntarily.

Participant Waiver and Release of Liability

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. THIS IS A LEGAL DOCUMENT. BY REGISTERING FOR THIS EVENT, YOU AGREE TO THE TERMS BELOW.

I, the undersigned participant (or parent/legal guardian if under 18), in consideration of being allowed to participate in the 3rd Annual Steps of Strength: Blood Cancer & Sickle Cell 5K Night Walk (“Event”), hereby agree to the following:

Assumption of Risk

I acknowledge that participating in a 5K walk/run involves inherent risks, including but not limited to: trips, falls, collisions, effects of weather, heat-related illness, and other risks that may result in serious injury or death. I knowingly and freely assume all such risks, both known and unknown, and accept full responsibility for my participation.

Release and Waiver

I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives, and next of kin, hereby release, waive, and hold harmless EDNA’S Love, Inc., its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, sponsors, partners, and affiliates (“Releasees”) from any and all claims, demands, losses, or liabilities of any kind arising from or related to my participation in the Event, including but not limited to personal injury, illness (including communicable diseases such as COVID-19), disability, death, or loss or damage to personal property.

Medical Treatment

I grant permission for emergency medical treatment to be given to me or the minor for whom I am legally responsible in the event of an injury, accident, or illness during the Event. I certify that I am (or the minor is) physically fit to participate in the Event.

Photographic Release

I understand that photos, videos, and other media may be taken during the Event, and I grant EDNA’S Love, Inc. and its representatives the right to use my (or the minor’s) likeness in promotional and fundraising materials, including but not limited to websites, social media, publications, and press releases, without compensation.

Compliance with Rules

I agree to comply with all Event rules, safety instructions, and guidance from Event officials. I understand that failure to do so may result in my removal from the Event without refund.

Minors

If registering on behalf of a minor under the age of 18, I certify that I am the minor’s parent or legal guardian and have the authority to sign this release on their behalf. I acknowledge that all provisions of this waiver apply to the minor.
